  • Comlux and MAZ Aviation have signed an agreement to develop VIP charter markets in Saudi Arabia and Europe. The deal sees Comlux adding a new A320 Prestige to their fleet which operates regular flights to the Middle East. The aircraft will be positioned in the Middle East allowing both players to be even more reactive to demands from the local market.
  • Qatar Airways is continuing its expansion plans and by 2013, the airline will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft, almost double its existing size. It is one of only six airlines in the world with a Five Star ranking for service and excellence awarded by Skytrax.

  • Saudi Arabia's MAZ Aviation is the largest fleet operator of the VIP configured Airbus A350 XWB aircraft. Having ordered six of the type as well as buying into the Completions Centre operated by Airbus, Mohammed Al Zeer, Chairman of MAZ is optimistic about the future for wide-bodied airliner VIP aircraft and larger business jets.  "The opportunity for growth in this sector has not diminished at all."
  • Muscat-based venture Joint Aviation Development is establishing an aircraft conversion centre in Oman that will provide executive interiors for large commercial airframes. It will be able to handle types such as the Boeing 737, 757 and MD-80.
  • Abu Dhabi-based Al-Jaber Group is planning to expand to a fleet of 21 within five years, and has aircraft orders with both Airbus and Embraer for its VIP charter operations. The company has already placed a $1.2 billion order for aircraft and signed a letter of intent for 2 VIP A380's.
  • Royal Jet operates five BBJs and expects to make additional acquisitions over the next six to 12 months. "Our main business is with wealthy individuals and government officials and we've actually seen demand increasing." Shane O'Hare, President and CEO of Royal Jet, Abu Dhabi.
