Press Release
Three shows will run during ‘Aerospace Week’, from Sunday 28 February to Thursday 4 March 2010, which will be inaugurated at Airport Expo, Dubai, by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai’s Department of Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman Dubai Airports and Chairman & Chief Executive of Emirates Airline & Group.
To date, more than 80 airlines have registered and up to 6,000 trade visitors are expected to attend the three shows over the five days, to learn about new services and products being exhibited, as well as hear industry experts address current issues at the conferences and workshops.
In addition, a schedule of meetings has been arranged for invited Hosted Buyers to meet and do business with a number of the 200 companies exhibiting at the events.
Aerospace Week comes at a time when the Middle East region achieved overall air passenger growth of 11.2 per cent, by far the highest in the world, according to a report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) which stated that 2009 had been the ‘worst year ever’ for the aviation industry.
Alison Weller, Managing Director of F&E Aerospace, commented: “It’s an incredibly exciting time to be in the Middle East, a region that achieved such tremendous growth in the aviation sector in the past year, in spite of the global economic downturn. We experienced this ourselves with the Dubai Airshow in November, which achieved an 18 per cent growth in attendee numbers over the previous event.
“Aerospace Week will seek to re-affirm this very positive growth rate by gathering together industry leaders who will discuss current issues in aircraft design, equipment and maintenance, plus investment in training, and seek a way forward that will hopefully provide a confidence boost to the global aviation industry.”
Aerospace Week starts on 28 February with the second Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME) show at Airport Expo, Dubai. Fourteen speakers have been confirmed to date for the workshops running over the two days of the event.
The accompanying exhibition will showcase cutting-edge design, innovative cabin fittings and technological advancements for the commercial and business aviation market.
Running concurrently is MRO Middle East, the second edition of the successful maintenance, repair and overhaul exhibition, presented by F&E Aerospace and Aviation Week, the largest multimedia information and services provider to the global aviation, aerospace and defence industries.
Bringing together 34 industry professionals, the conference will discuss the Middle East as the gateway to aviation’s global growth, the theme of this year’s conference.
In a first for the Middle East, F&E Aerospace will launch the Aerospace & Defence Training Show (ADTS), from 3 to 4 March 2010, in association with Halldale Media, specialists in simulation and training information.
ADTS comprises an exhibition featuring simulation training companies, training providers, colleges and manufacturers. The civil aviation training conference will be led by Halldale’s CAT magazine.
