The inaugural Aircraft Interiors Middle East 2008 (AIME) - a dedicated aircraft interiors sector event featuring 100 companies from 15 countries – got off to a flying start this week with the show’s organiser, F&E Aerospace, announcing it expects the next AIME edition to double in size.

Additionally, following positive industry feedback, F&E Aerospace is examining the possibility of making the two-day event an annual fixture.

Rapid growth in the Middle Easts business aviation fleet and rising regional ownership of private jets is spurring the local interior design market, according to the Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID), which represents interiors professionals throughout the Arabian Gulf.

APID President Kenneth Laidler said expansion of the regions business aviation landscape is opening up aircraft interior opportunities beyond the traditional niche practitioners.

And UK-headquartered Heath Tecna says the region's growing fleet base has prompted it to seriously look at boosting its Middle East presence.

Aircraft Interiors Middle East (AIME) will debut at Airport Expo Dubai in June next year and will service the region's rapidly developing commercial and business aviation fleets.

F&E says AIME, which will focus on aircraft interiors, airline cabin systems and in-flight entertainment, responds to growing demand from the Middle East's rapidly expanding commercial and business aviation operators.
